Ferrous Fumarate and Its Application in Pig Production
Ferrous fumarate (ferrous fumarate) is an organic iron nutritional additive with the chemical formula C ₄ H ₂ FeO ₄. It has the characteristics of high absorption rate and low gastrointestinal irritation, and is widely used in pig production.
major function
Ferrous fumarate, as an organic divalent iron agent, can effectively prevent iron deficiency anemia, promote heme synthesis, enhance piglet immunity and daily weight gain. Its organic form can directly participate in hemoglobin synthesis without the need for additional energy decomposition, and its absorption efficiency is higher than that of inorganic iron.
Application method
Pig feed addition: Adding ferrous fumarate to the feed of sows from 2 weeks before delivery to 3 weeks after delivery, providing iron source for piglets through breast milk, has the same effect as traditional iron supplementation methods such as intramuscular injection of iron dextran 3 days after birth, and can also reduce piglet diarrhea rate.
Direct iron supplementation: suitable for pig herds with iron deficiency anemia, quickly supplementing iron elements through oral or injection.
Effect performance
Significantly improve piglet skin and fur color, and increase myoglobin content in the longest back muscle
Increase the zinc content in the liver and spleen, enhance immunity
Reduce breeding costs (more economical than amino acid chelated iron)
